About VIP

VideoStream Interactive Partners builds and operates the unified digital platforms that power modern fan experiences in professional sports.

What VideoStream Interactive Partners does

VideoStream Interactive Partners — VIP — is a sports technology company that designs, builds, and operates unified fan experience platforms for professional teams, college athletic programs, conferences, and leagues. Our platform brings together streaming video, fan engagement, content discovery, advertising, and monetization capabilities into a single, team-branded digital experience.

Where most sports organizations manage a fragmented collection of separate vendors — one for ticketing, another for mobile apps, another for connected TV, another for commerce — VIP provides a unified intelligence and orchestration layer that connects these systems and makes them work together. The result is a coherent, personalized fan experience that operates under the team's brand and serves the team's business objectives.

VIP is not a consulting firm. We are operators. We build, manage, and continuously optimize the platforms we deploy — taking responsibility for outcomes, not just recommendations.

Areas of direct experience

The following describes what VIP has actually built and operated — not a list of services we offer in the abstract. Each area reflects hands-on platform work with real operational complexity.

Direct-to-consumer sports streaming

VIP has built and operated direct-to-consumer streaming platforms for live games, shoulder programming, and on-demand content. This includes the full delivery chain: ingest, transcoding, CDN configuration, adaptive bitrate delivery, and the fan-facing player experience on mobile, web, and connected TV. In our platform work, live event reliability is the non-negotiable requirement — a stream that fails during a game is not a technical metric, it is a broken promise to fans.

What live college sports requires from a streaming platform

Mobile app development

Team-branded mobile apps for iOS and Android that serve as the primary digital home for fans. VIP has built and shipped apps that deliver live and on-demand video, personalized content recommendations, schedules, highlights, and interactive features — all connected to a unified fan identity layer. We understand the App Store and Google Play submission processes, the review timelines, and the operational requirements for maintaining apps across multiple OS versions.

Connected TV applications

Big-screen experiences on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Android TV/Google TV. CTV is not a port of the mobile app — it requires a different interaction model, different authentication flows, different artwork specifications, and different QA processes. VIP has built CTV applications that handle device-activation authentication, directional navigation, and the platform-specific requirements of each CTV store.

Mobile and connected TV are not the same product

Authentication and first-party fan relationships

VIP builds unified fan identity systems that connect a fan's account across mobile, web, and CTV. This includes account creation, login, subscription entitlement, device-activation authentication for CTV, and the data infrastructure that makes personalization possible. The fan's account is the foundation of everything else — personalization, advertising targeting, cross-device continuity, and commerce.

Why first-party fan data matters

Content management and metadata operations

Sports content operations require more than a CMS. VIP manages the full content lifecycle: event scheduling, metadata quality control, naming conventions, event ID management, artwork production, rights window configuration, and the workflow that moves content from live event to replay to archive. A problem we repeatedly encounter is the assumption that metadata is a secondary concern — in practice, metadata problems surface before video problems in fan-facing quality reports.

Why sports-app metadata breaks before the video does

Server-side advertising and monetization

VIP has implemented server-side ad insertion (SSAI) for live sports streaming, including SCTE-35 marker detection, VAST/VMAP ad decision integration, HLS ad stitching, fill rate management, and measurement infrastructure. Live sports SSAI is technically more demanding than VOD advertising — the timing pressure of a live broadcast leaves no margin for ad decision latency or misconfigured encoding parameters.

Launch, QA, store submission, and platform operations

VIP manages the full lifecycle of a sports streaming platform: from pre-launch QA and store submission through ongoing operations, monitoring, incident response, and content operations. Before a live event, our QA process focuses on the full delivery chain — not just the app in isolation. We have developed operational checklists and processes that reflect what actually breaks in production, not what looks good in a staging environment.

The operational readiness checklist

Fan personalization and engagement

VIP's approach to personalization starts with the fan's declared preferences — their favorite team, their preferred sports, their notification settings — and builds from there. Personalization in a sports app is not primarily a machine learning problem. It is a product design problem: whose interests does the app serve? A fan who finds what they want quickly opens the app more often. That difference in engagement compounds over a season.

Who VIP serves

VIP works with sports organizations that are serious about modernizing how they engage fans and monetize their rights. Our platform is designed for organizations with established fan bases and the operational complexity that comes with managing fan relationships across multiple digital surfaces.

Professional sports teams

Teams in major professional leagues that want to build direct relationships with fans, reduce dependence on third-party platforms, and create new revenue streams through direct-to-consumer streaming, commerce, and advertising.

College athletic programs

Universities and athletic departments that want to build fan engagement platforms for their sports programs — connecting students, alumni, and regional fans to live content, highlights, and team experiences across multiple sports.

Conferences

Athletic conferences that want to create unified digital experiences across their member institutions, manage media rights distribution, and build conference-wide fan engagement platforms with school-level content management.

Leagues and associations

Leagues and governing bodies that want to modernize how they distribute content, engage fans, and create advertising and sponsorship revenue across their member teams and properties.

Our operating philosophy

VIP was founded on the observation that the infrastructure powering fan experiences in professional sports is fragmented, vendor-heavy, and increasingly misaligned with how fans actually engage with teams. Fans move seamlessly between mobile, TV, and in-venue environments. The systems teams use to reach them do not.

We believe teams and leagues should control their fan relationships, own their data, and have the flexibility to evolve their strategies without being locked into rigid vendor ecosystems. We believe regional brands deserve measurable performance from sports sponsorships, not just visibility. And we believe the evolution of sports media creates an opportunity to rethink how rights holders distribute content and engage fans directly.

The VIP platform is designed to be modular and additive. Organizations do not need to replace their existing infrastructure to work with VIP. We integrate with the systems teams already use — ticketing platforms, commerce providers, advertising networks, CRM systems — and add the intelligence layer that makes them work together more effectively.

We take a long view of the category. Sports media, fan engagement, and rights economics are evolving rapidly, but the fundamentals — building trust with fans, delivering measurable value to sponsors, and creating sustainable business models — remain constant. VIP is built to serve those fundamentals, not to chase short-term trends.

Built by operators

VIP's founding team brings together decades of experience in media technology, television production, and digital platform development. The co-founders have built and operated platforms at scale, managed content operations, developed patented technology, and worked directly with the broadcast, streaming, and sports industries.

Ryland Reed, Co-Founder and CEO, launched the first known FAST platform at CoolCast in 1999 and holds 7 patents across 17 filings, including interactive TV technology used by NBC, CBS, FOX, and Univision. Danny Ohman, Co-Founder and CPO, oversaw 2,500+ hours of content at SiTV (now Fuse) and led production of major television events. Darren Feher, Co-Founder and CTO, was a founding member of Hulu, former CEO of Conviva, and co-founder of Vizbee, which powers cross-device streaming for 350M devices.

This is not a team that has studied the sports media industry from the outside. It is a team that has worked inside it — building the infrastructure, managing the operations, and navigating the complexity that comes with delivering live content and fan experiences at scale.
